Kathy Griffin‘s surprise wedding may have been “atypical,” but it certainly included sentimental details.
The comic, 59, wed longtime boyfriend Randy Bick, 41, just a few minutes after midnight in a ceremony officiated by Lily Tomlin, shortly after announcing their engagement on New Year’s Eve.
Griffin wore a shimmering white cap-sleeved gown by Diane von Furstenberg for their intimate and “atypical” ceremony, but she later revealed that she already had the dress in her closet from her very first date with Bick — and that the selection was the groom’s choice.
In the early morning hours of January 1, Griffin posted a blurry photo from the 2011 date. “I asked Randy to pick out which ever one of my long dresses was his favorite for any reason,” she tweeted. “He picked out this dress and showed me this photo. Romance is hotttt again.”
The same photo was even placed in the front of the binder Tomlin read from during the nuptials.
In addition to the memorable gown, Griffin wore earrings by Erica Courtney. However, Griffin does not have an engagement ring and the couple will not be wearing wedding bands.
“Randy and I are doing sort of toy rings for the ceremony because neither one of us like wearing rings ever. So we will never wear rings. Deal with it,” she told People in her signature style.
The former “My Life on the D-List” star and Bick dated for seven years before splitting in November 2018. However, the couple reunited by April 2019.
