The past few weeks have been nerve-wracking for some brides, as they have scrambled to find their Alfred Angelo dresses after the bridal chain suddenly closed its doors.
Now, the company has worse news: if a customer hasn't received their dress by now, they are out of luck.
"It has now become apparent that the logistical and financial strain of fulfilling each and every open order makes continuing that course of action no longer possible. Thus, to the extent any order has not been fully delivered to a customer, it shall have to remain unfilled," the company said in a statement on its website.
Alfred Angelo stores abruptly close, leaving brides with questions
Customers who are owed money need to file a proof of claim; a link can be found on the Alfred Angelo website.
Alfred Angelo suddenly closed all of its stores at the end of business on July 13. Surprised customers were met with locked doors and sometimes no information on how to get their dresses.
The company officially filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on July 17. Filings show the business was $78 million in debt.
Attorney Patricia A. Redmond, who is handling the bankruptcy, said via email on July 19 that the Whitehall Township store was "very close" to getting all the dresses in the MacArthur Road store to customers.
Dress-less customers across the country took to social media to express their frustration with the news.
How can you do this to innocent brides who trusted you, gave you their money?!You knew all along & still took $$ You owe me $$ Just wrong [?]
