Man in dress shirt, tie and curly wig robs Fallbrook bank teller - The San Diego Union-Tribune

A man wearing a dress shirt, tie and slacks and sporting a dark curly wig robbed a teller at a Fallbrook bank Friday afternoon, authorities said.

It happened around 1:30 p.m. at the Chase branch at the Fallbrook Towne Centre North shopping plaza off South Mission Road and Ammunition Road, San Diego sheriff’s Lt. William Amavisca said.

“Preliminary information indicated the (man) entered the bank and approached the teller’s window with a demand note in hand,” sheriff’s Sgt. William Munsch said in a statement. “The teller complied with the demand. An undisclosed amount of cash was stolen.”

No weapons were seen during the robbery, and no bank employees were injured, Munsch said.

Deputies arrived about 10 minutes after the robbery and learned the well-dressed thief had fled in a dark sedan, Munsch said. About 30 minutes after the robbery, deputies located the suspected getaway vehicle abandoned about a half-mile from the bank on Alturas Road near West Fallbrook Street.

Police described the robber as a white man between 55 and 65 years old, about 5 feet 10 inches with a thin build. He was wearing a gray dress shirt, gray slacks and black tie.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the identity of the robber was asked to call detectives from the sheriff’s Fallbrook substation at (760) 451-3100.
